Central Arizona's Ethan Cho Wins Gold at 2026 International Chemistry Olympiad
Ethan Cho of BASIS Scottsdale (Central Arizona Local Section) won a gold medal for Team USA at the 58th International Chemistry Olympiad in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where the US team took home 3 gold medals and 1 silver among 363 contestants from 92 countries.

Central Arizona's Ethan Cho (BASIS Scottsdale) was named to the four member Team USA competing at the 58th International Chemistry Olympiad in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (July 10 to 19, 2026), with fellow Central Arizona finalist Bowen Shan (BASIS Chandler) named an alternate.
Two Central Arizona Students Named 2026 Chemistry Olympiad National Finalists
CAZACS congratulates Ethan Cho (BASIS Scottsdale) and Bowen Shan (BASIS Chandler) on being named among the Top 20 finalists in the 2026 U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad. Selected from roughly 1,000 students who took the National Exam in April, the two advanced to the Chemistry Olympiad Study Camp at the University of Maryland, College Park (May 31 to June 13, 2026), where finalists trained and competed for a spot on Team USA at the International Chemistry Olympiad. Their selection reflects the strength of chemistry education in Central Arizona.
