On June 7, 2026, the Central Arizona Section of the American Chemical Society partnered with science educator Ky the Chemist to bring Side Quest: Chemistry Lab to Phoenix Fan Fusion. Over 50 participants of all ages joined us in the Cosmic Academy room for a hands-on chemistry workshop inspired by pop culture and gaming. Attendees mixed, reacted, and created their own glowing take-home creations while learning real chemistry concepts including polymer science and fluorescence. The energy in the room was fantastic and participants of all ages walked away with both a memorable experience and a greater appreciation for chemistry. We are so proud of the team of volunteers who made this event possible and look forward to bringing more science to Fan Fusion in the future.
