Dr. Richard C. Bauer

Councilor

Richard Bauer did his undergraduate work at Saginaw Valley State University located in Saginaw,

Michigan. He completed his Master’s (1991) and Ph.D. (1998) work at Purdue University with an emphasis on Chemistry Education. Richard is currently the Faculty Head for Science, Mathematics, and Social Science in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts at the Downtown Phoenix campus of ASU. Prior to moving downtown he was the Coordinator of General Chemistry on the Tempe campus. He has been a member of ACS for 31 years.

He has been active in the Central Arizona Local Section since his arrival here in 1996. For several years he served as Secretary of the local section and served as Chair for one year. Richard was first elected as a councilor of the local section in 2010. In addition to his officer duties, Richard has coordinated the Chemistry Olympiad for many years before the pandemic.
