Dr. Kathryn Kitzmiller

Councilor

Kathryn Kitzmiller is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry in the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. She is program lead for Molecular and Cellular Biology and actively serves on the University Assessment Committee. She received a B.S. in Chemistry in 2001 and a M.S. in Chemistry in 2004 from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. In 2009, she completed her Ph.D. in Integrated Biomedical Science from the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.


Kathryn’s past experiences include serving as an Adjunct Faculty at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio and as a scientific writer in public relations and product marketing communications at Chemical Abstracts Services in Columbus, Ohio prior to joining Grand Canyon University in 2014. Her interests include supporting and promoting chemistry and chemical education. She has been a leader and an active member in the Central Arizona local section since 2017, serving on the Executive committee as Chair, Chair-elect, Alternate Councilor, and Councilor. Her contributions include organizing the Younger Chemists Committee and Programming Committee which have brought multiple events throughout the valley. She participates in outreach and served as an ISEF judge, presenting the National awards in 2019. In her free time, Kathryn loves hiking and spending time with family.
